TBR: January 2021

It felt real weird to type 2021 up there. January is going to be an interesting month. It feels like the weight of the world is resting on the shoulders of January, yet I think (or hope) we all realize that nothing is going to magically change when the clock hits 12:01 on January 1st. Likewise, the country isn’t going to be magically healed when Joe Biden is sworn in on January 20th. So while there is certainly hope, most definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, I don’t think January is going to be the magic bullet we’ve all been waiting for. Which means, like all other times of worry and stress, I’m going to be reading a lot of romance. So much romance. Though I’m also going to be good and throw in a couple of books from my TBR backlist (is that a thing?). These are books that have been sitting on my shelves for years and dammit, this is going to be the year I read them (or DNF them, whatever the case may be). In any case, here’s what I plan on reading this month:

The Camelot Betrayal by Kiersten White: I loved the first book in this series and am looking forward to seeing what happens next!

A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab: So I’ve actually read this before, but it’s been a long time, and since I was gifted the series box set for Christmas, I’m going to start over at the beginning.

VIII by HM Castor: This is one of those that’s been on my shelves for ages. I love reading about Henry VIII so I have mildly high hopes for this one.

The Stylist by Rosie Nixon: To be honest, I’m not sure how I ended up with this one, but it has pink on the cover so I’ll give it a shot.

Trashed by Mia Hopkins: I have been wanting to read this book for YEARS, so when I had the chance to snag a signed copy during the Romancing the Runoff auction, I was all over it.

How to Catch a Queen by Alyssa Cole: It’s Alyssa and no further explanation is needed.

Lothaire by Kresley Cole: This might be the last book I haven’t read in the IAD series which actually makes me kind of sad.

Scandal Takes the Stage by Eva Leigh: I’m making my way through Eva’s backlist because she’s fab and I love her.

Offer from a Gentleman, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, and To Sir Phillip with Love by Julia Quinn: Why yes, I am now obsessed with the Bridgertons. Aren’t you?

To Love and to Loathe by Martha Waters: I loved Martha’s first book and am very pumped for her enemies to lovers take.

Just Last Night by Mhairni McFarlane: This was one of those impulse, love the cover, ARC requests, but it looks like a cute book!

The Dating Plan by Sara Desai: I didn’t actually love Sara’s first book (it was cute, just not my fave kind of hero), but this was an option for Book of the Month this month so I jumped on it.

I’m leaving a little space on my TBR for this month because sometimes books show up in book boxes or I get approved for ARCs and I want to dive right in, but feel like I have to finish my list first, so it’s a little shorter than usual this month, but I’m sure I will still finish plenty of books. What are you looking forward to reading in January?
