Romance and Cocktails: Party Recap

Well friends, as the Lease on Love release extravaganza starts to wrap up, it’s safe to say I am in major need of a nap. I’m the introvertiest of introverts and I have done a lot of peopling over the past few weeks! A couple months ago, I started planning a cocktail party to celebrate the release of Lease, along with some upcoming releases by fellow LA authors I know and love, and while I love party planning and had a blast planning this celebration, it took a lot out of me. If I’m being totally honest, some frustrations both in regards to the party and just with life in general had me questioning if I should cancel more than once. But that shit was paid for and I was going to party if it killed me! And I ended up having THE BEST time! I met so many amazing authors and got to finally connect in person with people I’ve been social media friends with forever and it was just a lovely, lovely night. I’m so glad I pushed myself out of my introvert box because the whole experience was totally worth the anxiety! So let’s take a look at some party highlights, shall we?

First, my mom ordered this book cake for me and I absolutely died when I saw it because it is so perfect. It’s from Cake and Art, and I was really sad to have to cut into it, but then not sad because it was as delicious as it was gorgeous!

I don’t do much crafting anymore, but I wanted to make something simple my author friends could take home with them. I ordered these plain matchbooks and then printed their book covers on sticker paper, and they came out so freaking cute. I’m obsessed.

Can you have a romance party without rose in a dick-shaped bottle? Just the Tipsy was kind enough to send me some of their delicious bubbly and it was a hit!

In addition to the bubbly rose, we also had custom Lease on Love cocktails, served in all the antique glassware I spent too much time and money sourcing over the past few months (not mad about it though because they looked awesome!).

The party was held at Flora Chang in DTLA which is owned by Marvimon, my absolute favorite group of event venues in Southern California. The space is stunning and I’m basically counting down until the next time I can hold an event there because it was amazing.

And of course, no party is complete without food! One of my favorite caterers Huntington Catering provided the charcuterie spread and it tasted as good as it looked.

Honestly, I feel so #blessed to have been able to celebrate my book and meet all these beautiful people with such a fun party. I think I need to start a new branch of my event planning services just for authors because this was such a fun one to plan!

And here are links to books by the authors who came to celebrate with me!

So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park

For Butter or Worse by Erin La Rosa

Tides of Time by Luna Joya

Horror Hotel by Victoria Fulton and Faith McClaren
