Pitch Wars Posts Round Up!

Hi friends! It’s that time of year again! Pitch Wars season kicked off a couple weeks ago with the announcement of the mentors for the Class of 2021 and one new addition to the list is yours truly! I’ll be mentoring along with my PW bestie and CP Brooke Abrams and we are so excited to be mentors this year leading #TeamForearmsAndAbs! Since I know there is always tons of excitement leading up to the various events (wish lists posted, applications opening), I thought I would gather all of my Pitch Wars related posts from previous years in one convenient location. Please note that these are posts about my own personal experiences and are not official Pitch Wars blog posts in any capacity!

My Pitch Wars

First up, my personal Pitch Wars story! Read about the moment I discovered I was chosen to be a part of the Pitch Wars Class of 2019! This post is just pure emotion, and honestly it’s fun for me to go back and read it now because little did I know that emotional moment would be one to straight up change my life!

During the actual PW process, I was so busy I didn’t have time for much else aside from working on revisions and managing to not let my personal life totally fall apart. I did manage to squeeze in one blog post update about the process itself, which honestly, I’m surprised I found time for. PW revisions can be all consuming!

What happens after PW? Well, you can read all about how I signed with my amazing agent Kimberly Whalen right here. I love this post because it really shows how there is no such thing as an overnight success. What looked like an immediate win for me really came after many years of hard work!

And if you really want the goods, you can read about how I got my book deal! Full disclosure, my PW book didn’t end up selling, but the tools I learned during the process most definitely helped me write book two, which ended up being the one to get me my deal!

Pitch Wars Advice

Last year I wrote a series of blog posts to give some hopefully helpful info to those who were applying for the Class of 2020. It’s all still relevant for those applying this year, but please note that dates and specifics for this year should be found on the Pitch Wars website.

Up first, the applications and waiting period! The first step in the PW can be scary, so here’s some tips to help you survive!

Next up is some of my tips on what to do if you’re chosen for PW and what to do if you’re not. Obviously there is no one size fits all solution, but I compiled some suggestions from other PW mentees as to what worked best for them.

Finally, my tips for how to survive the PW showcase. Obviously this is a niche post as only those who are chosen for PW participate in the showcase, but it’s something that’s not talked a lot about and it can be very difficult to navigate.

Hopefully some of these posts can offer some insight and helpful advice! I’m always around on Twitter to answer questions as they come up, and if you are thinking about applying for PW this year, do it!
