One Sentence Reviews: September 2020

Ugh. What a month. As you know, I really struggled with my reading this month. I DNFed a couple of books, which is rare for me, and I got so stuck in the middle of the month that I had to turn to two of my standby favorites just to be able to make it through a full read. In spite of that, I still read some pretty amazing books in September, so here are my thoughts:

Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams: This one had some high highs and some low lows, but the love story is very sweet. Full review here.

Hate Crush by Angelina M. Lopez: One of the hottest, sexiest books I’ve ever read. Full review here.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall: Laugh out loud funny, so sharp and so witty, all I wrote in my notes was “perfection.” Full review here.

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams: This one was a tough read mostly because there is so much toxicity in the story. Full review (and content warnings) here.

Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole: Kresley kills it every time and this might be my new favorite IAD book.

One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London: If you are trash for the Bachelor (as I am) then you will probably love this one. Full review here.

Simmer Down by Sarah Smith: I wanted to love this one, but it didn’t quite hit for me. Full review here.

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin: Probably the best fantasy book I’ve read so far this year. Full review here.

Marriage Game by Sara Desai: I liked a lot about this book, but the hero was not my favorite.

How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams: Absolutely loved this heartbreaking and beautiful love story. Full review here.

Girl Serpent Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust: I didn’t really love or hate this one, it was just okay. Full review here.

Fiery Crown by Jeffe Kennedy: I really like this series and I am looking forward to finally getting a real happy ending. Full review here.

A Little Light Mischief by Cat Sebastian: This is a great little novella (even though I wanted more sexy times).

Beach Read by Emily Henry: One of my rereads, I turned to this one when I needed something I knew I would love. Full review here.

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle: Another reread, this one is absolute perfection. Full review here.

DNF: I DNFed a couple of books, but only one I want to mention because I think with the others, it was more about timing than anything else. However, I stopped reading Timing by Mary Calmes when Hero #1 recalled the first time he met Hero #2 and Hero #2 called Hero #1 a f****t and I’m not here for that in any way, shape or form.

Kind of a mixed bag this month, but definitely some standouts among the crowd! What was your favorite September read?
