Ugh. What a month. Despite a seemingly high number of reads with sixteen, I had been hoping for more given the long month. And honestly, I had a hard time getting into a lot of them because *world burning*. I’m hoping the (hopefully) better political climate in November is going to help bring back my focus, but if 2020 has taught me anything, it’s to prepare for the worst. Here’s the books I managed to make it through in October:
Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler: I liked a lot about this one, especially Sarah’s voice, but the hero was too alpha for me.
Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler: This hero was better for me, but still a little more possessive than I would like. Full review here.
Well Played by Jen DeLuca: I’d really been looking forward to this one and I love Jen, but it just didn’t hit quite right with me. Full review here.
Not Like the Movies by Kerry Winfrey: This was one of my more enjoyable reads, though it did make me hungry for pie! Full review here.
Last Tang Standing by Lauren Ho: Another really good one for this month, it made my chick lit loving heart happy. Full review here.
Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole: It felt a little weird to be in a new world within the IAD world, but it was super hot and I was into it.
Shipped by Angie Hockman: This book is a vacation in novel form and I needed it so badly! Full review here.
To Have and to Hoax by Martha Waters: Bought it for the cover, loved it because it’s hilarious. Full review here.
The Cul-de-Sac War by Melissa Ferguson: This book opens with the heroine in a production of Midsummer Night’s Dream and I was hooked from there. Full review here.
Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar: The concept and world-building was fantastic, but the pacing dragged for me. Full review here.
Snapped by Alexa Martin: Just buy it and read it already! Full gushing review here.
You Will Suffer by Alexandra Ivy: I enjoyed this romantic suspense way more than I thought I would.
11 Scandals… by Sarah MacLean: Not my favorite of Sarah’s, but still good.
Ties That Tether by Jane Igharo: Ugh so good and heart-breaking and lovely. Full review here.
Jackson by Emily March: I’m still not super into country/small town settings, but I liked the dynamic of the couple in this one.
It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark: It’s hard for me to love a wedding planner book, but I loved this one. Full review here.
DNF: Romeatically Challenged by Marina Adair, which had a lot of spelling/grammar issues, but mostly, I just found the timeline so confusing, I never knew where I was, if that makes sense.
Not a terrible month of reading, but I’m hoping for a better one this month.
