Hi friends! Can you believe we’re back smack dab in the middle of March? Yeah, me either. Normally to wrap up each month, I do a round up of one sentence reviews of every book I read, but I’ve decided to change up the format a bit and focus just on my favorite reads of the month. One, this makes my life much easier as writing that many reviews is tough. Two, this allows me time to gush over my favorite books! And I’m always here for book gushing. In February I read a lot of good books, but I had five that were standouts:
The Guest List by Lucy Foley: If you had asked me a while ago, I would have said I am definitely not a thriller reader. But there have been a couple in the past year that I have read and really enjoyed, and this one was definitely one of them. I got this one through Book of the Month because it was one of the few year end finalists I hadn’t read, and I absolutely loved it. It’s about a wedding taking place on a remote and secluded island, and what happens when one of the guests turns up dead. It’s told from multiple character POVs (which is so hard to do, but Lucy does it brilliantly) and I had no idea what was going to happen next. Tons of fun and very entertaining!
This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens: This book is told over the course of multiple timelines, with most of the action happening on New Year’s spread over the course of Minnie’s lifetime. She and her nemesis continually have almost run ins over the course of their lives, until one New Year’s when they finally meet in person for the first time. I absolutely loved the voice in this one, but my favorite part was discovering all the ways the two main characters had been in each other’s lives for years without ever knowing it. It was fun and witty and a pleasure to read.
Hot Copy by Ruby Barrett: Ugh there are not enough words out there for how much I love this book! Wesley and Corrine are two of my favorite brands of romance lovers. Wesley is soft and sweet and totally broken on the inside and Corrine is a badass bitch also holding onto being a bit broken. This book is so emotional and heartbreaking and it is also one of the hottest books I have ever read. I love it so so so much. (Content warning for parents with cancer and sexual harassment, you can read my full review here.)
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas: Not going to lie, Sarah’s last two books have not been hits for me, so I was a little worried about this one. But I’m happy to say I freaking loved Nesta and Cassian’s love story. I loved their journey as a couple, but I think what I loved even more was the female friendships Nesta finds in this book, along with the relationship between her and her sisters. Obviously it’s hot AF and I’m never mad about that, but there was so much heart and healing in this one. (You can read my full review here.)
When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn: This one definitely wasn’t as up there as the rest on the list for this month, but it is my favorite of the Bridgerton series so far. This is Francesca’s story, which is interesting because she is the Bridgerton sibling that is the most removed from the family and so I thought I wouldn’t like it as much. But her hero was the least problematic of the series so far (still problematic, but yeah). I think I liked their relationship the best of the ones I’ve read (I only have Hyacinth’s book left!).
Some truly stellar reads in the month of February and I’m looking forward to sharing even more with you next month!
