Well friends, I had another intense reading month, finishing nineteen books in September! I have been on a really good reading kick lately, though I expect that will slow down in October as I become immersed in reading Pitch Wars submissions (yay!). But for now, let’s take a look at the books I loved reading in September!
The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang: I’m really glad I went into this one knowing what to expect, because it’s a lot heavier than Helen’s other two books. I absolutely loved this story about a woman who is struggling to find herself and the man who comes in and supports (not saves) her. It’s a gorgeous book, just please make sure you check content warnings!
Two Houses by Suleena Bibra: Suleena is a fellow Pitch Wars alum so of course I’m biased but I freaking loved this book! There is so much amazing banter and I really enjoyed reading about a career I knew nothing about (both main characters work at art auction houses, hence the title). This book is just a delightful, fun, entertaining read. You can read my full review here.
Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin: I overall really enjoyed this sequel, though as usual, it didn’t quite live up to the first one for me. But it was still really enjoyable and I will definitely read the third.
So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park: Suzanne is one of my PW mentors so of course, again, biased, but she is so freaking funny, her books are always such good reads. And I think this one might be my favorite of hers! You can read my full review here.
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling: I mean, witchy romcom is basically my fall vibes so of course I loved this book. It’s perfect for October if you are looking for a good Halloween read! You can read my full review here.
Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala: I don’t normally read mysteries, but I really enjoyed this book, probably because there was a lot of food in it and I’m easy to please that way.
Blackout: This anthology includes stories from basically all my favorite YA writers and I loved each and every one of them. Each individual story is so cute and fun, but I also really loved how they all connected together.
Battle Royal by Lucy Parker: Lucy is one of my go tos and I freaking loved this book. It’s grumpy sunshine perfection and it gave me all the feels.
His Leading Lady by Jenny Nordbak: This book is hot. Like really, really hot. I love Jenny and I loved this fake dating Hollywood romance!
This Poison Heart by Kaylnn Bayron: I was surprised by how much I loved this book! Normally I like my fantasy set in a completely different world, but this was more magical realism and I really enjoyed it, especially all the plant references.
The Dating Playbook by Farrah Rochon: Lots of fake dating this month, and this one was another fun one. You can read my full review here.
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood: Not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one because it’s Reylo fanfic-esque and I am not an Adam Driver fan, but Ali’s witty banter and awkwardly adorable heroine won me over.
The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox: It’s almost my favorite time of year, holiday romance movie time, and this book is the perfect precursor. If you’re ready to start decorating for Christmas, this is a good one for you!
Overall, it was a great month of reading, and as always, I can’t wait to dive into more books!
