Fave Reads of the Month: June 2022

Hi friends! I somehow managed to finish sixteen books in June despite feeling like I was in a total slump. I don’t know if I was too stressed or my TBR just wasn’t hitting right, but I really struggled to get through books last month, and yet I somehow still came out with quite a few faves! Here’s the books I loved in June:

Fool Me Once by Ashley Winstead: This second chance romance was super sharp and witty and I really loved the political aspect of the book (both characters work in politics in Texas). It was really interesting and a fun read.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus: Probably one of the best books I’ve read all year, this one will definitely my make year end lists of favorites. I am not a woman in STEM, but I felt so much of the struggle when it comes to balancing motherhood and career. Basically a perfect book.

Never Been Kissed by Timothy Janovsky: Just an absolute delight from beginning to end. Another second chance romance set at an old drive in movie theater, it was just adorable and I loved every second of it.

Book Boyfriend by Kris Ripper: I mean, we all want a book boyfriend in real life, am I right? This was such a fun read, I always enjoy reading books about books!

When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole: Alyssa is one of my romance auto buy authors, but I put this one off because I thought it might be kinda scary and it definitely had some creep factor to it, but it was such a brilliant story that kept me guessing from beginning to end.

Out of Love by Hazel Hayes: Word of warning to my romance peeps, this book does not have a happy ending! It’s told in reverse, starting with the demise of a relationship and tracing back to the beginning when things were good. It was really entertaining but definitely had some really sad moments.

For the Love of the Bard by Jessica Martin: As an unabashed fan of Shakespeare, I absolutely loved this book full of theater jokes and Bard puns. Definitely one I will read again!

Yerba Buena by Nina LaCour: Just an absolutely gorgeous love story from beginning to end.

It’s interesting to watch more and more non-romance books sneak onto my list of favorite reads, so I guess branching out a little is actually paying off! What was your favorite read of the month?
