April was overall a kind of slow month of reading for me, but I also knew that was going to be the case going in because I had so much going on. I finished fifteen books altogether, and I really loved a lot of them! Here’s April’s standouts:
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley: I really enjoyed this one and it definitely kept me guessing up until the end. I think the nice thing about being new to the thriller genre is I don’t know all the tropes and twists yet so I’m still able to be surprised, which I love.
By Any Other Name by Lauren Kate: If you are a traditional romance reader, this one might be tough for you (the couple doesn’t get together until literally the last page), but I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting and it was such an interesting look at the writing/publishing process. If you like a slow burn, this one is for you!
Set on You by Amy Lea: There’s a lot to love about this one, but my favorite parts were all the social media posts and a hero who has serious Chris Evans vibes. Always here for Chris Evans vibes.
Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter: I don’t know how this one took so long to pop up on my radar, but it was absolutely delightful. An easy and fun read that also tugged on all the heartstrings.
Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson: I don’t think I could sum up this book if I had a 1000 word essay, but it was completely captivating from beginning to end.
Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma: I am here for all the Shakespeare retellings and I loved this twist on Taming of the Shrew. This book was delightfully steamy and super sharp.
What If You and Me by Roni Loren: This was the first book of Roni’s I picked up and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely be seeking out the other books in the series.
The Unsinkable Greta James by Jennifer E. Smith: I really wish this book had ended with a clear HEA, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. I thought it struck a really good balance between career/family issues and the new love relationship.
Not too shabby of a month! Remember, if you’re interested in any of my favorite reads of the year, you can find them all here!
