I don’t know if it’s the LA girl forever in me or what, but I love a celebrity love story. It almost feels like the ultimate fantasy, the one I’ve been dreaming about as a kid (when I fell head over heels for JTT) and it’s one of my favorite tropes. So this one was a fun one!

Jasmine Lin is going through a very public breakup–front cover of the tabloids public. Jasmine is a soap star and her now ex is a musician so when she gets dumped, it gets splashed across the front page. Luckily, Jasmine is getting out of town, off to New York to film a new TV show. Ashton Suarez is a telenovela hunk making the jump to mainstream. Ashton’s goal has always been to make a name for himself in movies and he feels like this new show is the perfect next step. Jasmine and Ashton will be playing former lovers who find their way back to each other on their show, and of course, when they meet in person for the first time, sparks fly. But Jasmine is hesitant to jump into another relationship, and Ashton is hiding some pretty major secrets. Their chemistry is undeniable, but can they overcome their inner obstacles to find their real life happily ever after? (Rhetorical question, they do, obvs.)

This book came along at the perfect time for me. I needed something fun and entertaining and sexy to keep my mind off the trash fire that is the world right now, and You Had Me at Hola turned into the absolute perfect escape. I fell in love with both Jasmine and Ashton, and their cast of side characters. I’m hoping Jasmine’s cousins get their own stories next because they were super fun and funny. I really liked the way Alexis wove in scenes from the show, they were these perfect little reflections of what was happening with Jasmine and Ashton off camera and it was really cool to see these two love stories (one between their characters and one between them) happening side by side. Also, this book is super hot, which I was not mad about.

You Had Me at Hola will be released on August 4, 2020, but you can of course pre-order now. I absolutely loved reading this one, and if you are looking for a fun and entertaining read, I think you will too.
